INTRODUCTION

The market for business tourism, conference meetings and event organization continues to grow. Nowadays it is a great market that generates considerable profits for both companies and tourist destinations. The growth in this sector has led to a notable increase in the demand for professionals who are familiar with the key elements of the industry in all its forms.

These key elements range from the presentation of a candidate at an international medical conference to managing meetings and conferences for corporate executives, managing meeting rooms and conference halls at hotels, or promoting venues to attract business tourism, etc…

As a response to the demands of the market, IEDE Business School offers the first Master's Degree in Event Management for Tourism in the market, adapted to the educational framework of the European Higher Education Area. Several influential companies and organizations collaborate in the design and teaching of this Master’s Degree, thanks to a series of preferential agreements, such as the Asociación de Organizadores Profesionales de Congresos (OPC) de Madrid Centro [Association of Professional Congress Organizers (PCO’s) in Madrid-Center] and the Federación Española de Asociaciones de Empresas OPC [Spanish Federation of PCO Business Associations].

The Spanish Federations of PCO Business Associations has awarded Universidad Europea de Madrid the National Institute Award in recognition of its excellent educational work in the area of tourism and event organization. UEM is, in addition, the first Spanish institution in the field of education to have become an active member of the EFAPCO (European Federation of the Associations of Professional Congress Organizers).
