IEDE was found in Madrid in April 1991, as a private institution
independent by a group of businessmen, professionals and educators.
With the launch of the MBA Classic, appeared what has been recognized as a distinctive
value of IEDE: “The new way in management education” based in our
exclusive teaching method. Since then thousands of students have graduated with our School
and have accelerated in a successful managerial career.
In Madrid, during most part of the year, students from many different
nationalities share their effort and experiences in our local and our international
programmes, giving the School a truly multicultural dimension.
At IEDE we are not so interested in teaching as in making sure that students
have the right means and stimulation to learn, developing in them a greater
thirst for knowledge once they leave our school.
In short, making sure they have learned how to learn. We are, of course, interested
in technical knowledge, in what is done and how. But we are especially interested
in getting the best individual result from each of our students. We try to be
available to our students; providing individual attention; helping students
to succeed.
In addition, the School links the local programmes with a commitment. The MBA
Good Job gives students a practical training that gives them the skills needed
for an optimal education and to assume professional responsibilities. That is
why IEDE guarantees the access to their first job. The Executive MBA Lead Club
(The Lifetime Executive Advancement Development Club) is our commitment to a
whole generation of managers; an on-going training programme offering two hundred
hours per year, free, for the rest of their professional life after the student
has finished the MBA.
But our international programmes also have a commitment with our students related
to our multicampus structure that they experience a truly international education.
All programmes begin in Madrid where the core of the MBA it is delivered. This
represents for students an immersion in the essence of the management techniques
and practices based on the following areas: General Management, Finance, Marketing,
Operations Management, Human Resources.
Madrid has always been a city of people from all over Spain, and the result of it is an unusually open and accessible city, where it is very difficult to feel like a foreigner. Madrid has a unique soul and vitality, open and endearing. In no other European capital you will find a city so alive late into the night, as though some unwritten law forbade sleeping before dawn. It enjoys a well-earned reputation of being an openhearted city where all newcomers can be sure of finding a niche and a warm welcome, a city where the most disparate trends and attitudes somehow manage to co-exist.

To experience Madrid, you must explore its bars, where you can try the famous
"tapas" with a good wine or a beer in your hand, and its clubs, enjoying
the nocturnal madness of its music scene. But above all, the city has a tremendous
variety of restaurants with all the diversity of Spanish cuisine and plenty of
elegant international restaurants, where creative, innovative cooking is the fashion.
Madrid, for example, is the second largest fish market in the world (behind Tokyo)
and, consequently, seafood restaurants receive the finest and freshest fish and
shellfish from all of Spain's best fishing harbours.
But Madrid is also a cultural and art reference for Europe. You can visit hundreds
of museums, starting with the Prado Museum, with its world renown collection where
you can admire the three most important Spanish painters: Goya, Velázquez
and El Greco, continuing with the Archaeological and the Contemporary Art Museums
and finishing your tour with the Thyssen-Bornemisza and Reina Sofía Collections
among many other options.
Madrid is a city of great monuments. Among its highlights is the old part of town,
dating back to the Habsburg Empire. But it also is a city meant for walking. Stroll
through the verdant and peaceful Retiro Park, admire the city's monumental plazas
and fountains, and visit the Plaza Mayor, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture,
and Madrid's opulent Royal Palace.
Be sure to attend a performance of zarzuela, Madrid's own light opera that has
travelled the world. Visit the large and lively department stores, and shop in
the city's elegant boutiques, where superb Spanish leather goods, high fashion
clothes and Spanish crafts, like ceramics, lace and embroidery and exquisite gourmet
food products can be found.
Ambitious programmes to modernize the city have been developed during the last
years, providing for example, one of the best public transportation systems in
the world.
Madrid is waiting for you with open arms: enjoy the experience of living in this unique city.
